hi guys!! I have a female bearded dragon about 8 months old or so and a couple weeks ago we took her to the vet thinking she may have yellow fungus. the vet didn't think she did but sent pictures to a reptile specialist and they both agreed she did not. We went back and the vet was able to get all the crusties off and there was no infection or anything underneath but she sent us home with some antibiotic solution to put in her next 2 baths which we did. But my boyfriend is still concerned and thinks she may have yellow fungus because she is STILL yellow and part of her tail is darkening it looks like skin that needs to shed but it will NOT come off and she has shed multiple times since.

the 1st picture is what she looked like before the vet

the 2nd picture is the darkening by her tail and legs

the 3rd picture is her enclosure which is a 40gal breeder with reptile carpet some tile ect.

the 4th picture is the lights we got going on the first set is a UBV/UVA light in the second socket and the 1st socket has a regular reptile light bulb the 2nd fixture is a ceramic heat emitter

Oh wow, glad they were able to get all the crusties off, that looked painful. The grayish white going down the tail and starting on the thigh looks like he's going into shed. I don't know if the real dark color on his inner thigh is his normal color or something else. My Dexter had some stuck shed skin on her belly once for like 4 months. She shed her upper chest and her lower belly by her vent and this skin just stayed right in the middle and started looking yellow. I was worried that it might have been yellow fungus but then I bought a product I think it was called Repti-shed and I sprayed her for a few nights with it and the whole piece of skin came of in one shot!

Make sure you don't rest the lights on the plastic surrounding the mesh...it will melt.

Yes definitely we have had that happen to another tank with a leopard gecko..lesson learned :) I think the dark coloring is the start of a shed it's starting to become more flaky now I was just kind of concerned about her belly still being yellow it hasn't spread or anything and she gets regular baths. We have something called I believe repti shed you just put it into their baths and it's suppose to help with stuck on shed.

Has he shed his belly since the vet removed all the crust? Did they ever say what the crust was caused from? I would get a second opinion.

I wonder if the skin is stained from whatever that was, and he just needs to go through a shed to get rid of the stain. It's not the same thing, but 3 months ago Dexter hurt her nail real bad. It looked like she almost ripped the tip of her toe off. I cleaned it real good and gave her betaine soaks and it started to look better but she had this scab under the nail. Anyway, I showed a picture of it to a vet and he said that it wasnt going to look better until she shed the skin on her toe.

Yup she said that it was just a shed buildup and she hasn't shed since that she told me the yellow staining was from poop but she poops usually during her baths so it's not like she sits in it or anything . I think a second opinion would be a good idea too I just have my doubts and don't want it to get to the point of no hope if it is yellow fungus you know

I would get a second opinion, it's better to be safe than sorry.
