Need more advice on distance from UVB. This is a vivexotic tank that Spike came with when we got him last week, 20190822_113737.jpg and as you can see the UVB tube is at the back attached to the roof of tank....but that shelf seems to be very close to the bulb and he can actually touch it! Currently it's a exo terra 150. 25w T8 UVB bulb and iv been advised to get a better one. Should I move that UVB to the front of the rank instead so he cant get right up to it? Worried about his eyes and poss getting burnt there is only 5 and a half inches between that UVB bulb and the top shelf.
Any advice is more than welcome!

If you want more experienced persons advice I would go to this website www.beardeddragon.org--- that website has the most experienced on it a long w/ a vet moderator- the UVB has no reflector your using as just the bulb is showing - as far as the rays being that close I cant tell you if that is good or bad - but you can ask on the other website about the bulb your using and the closeness of it -- I just know what works and what does not work for UVB's as far as experience and from peoples post and issues from the past - also did a little bit of research on the UVB's and this website I found

Your welcome and I hope you enjoy your guy - they are loving creatures -- I am worried about alot of dragons on this site as there doesnt seem to be to many experienced and if they are they arent on here a lot- I havent been on this forum too long and I am doing my best w/ the acknowledge that I have learned from the other site to help - if its more complex and I dont know I will send them to that site as I did you - especially medical things -- I have had dragons for around 5 years now or a little longer and have learned sooooooooooooooo much from the other site and doing alot of research etc.. my frist beardie came from the high school my daughter brought her home as a babysitting job for the summer -- I had never even seen a bearded dragon before and the first thing I said to her was " what is that?" Well after having her here for a few weeks or month I took to her and told my daughter to get a hold of the teacher to see if he wanted to get rid of her or rehome her and he said yes so we took her permanently - at that point we bought her a 50 gallon tank as she was in a 25 gallon all her life a NO NO w/ a red colored bulb -- another HUGE NO NO -- I am surprised she could even see after having that red bulb in her tank all those years and you could tell she was miserable in that tank always glass surfing -- she was old and sadly after 3 years almost 4 she passed -- but we gave her the attention and love and freedom to run around the house before she did pass -- after that I decided to get another one and this is who we have today -- meet Hiccup- he is a orange citrus tiger - we got him around 3 months I believe he is now 18 months old - he came from a breeder in St Louis Park MN

Awww hes lovely! I think spike is just a average bearded dragon, reminds me of a little crocodile haha. We are currently thinking up ways to dragon proof our house so he can have a good look around. He doesnt like being handled too much but he will walk right up to me when I open his door so slowly getting there. But he hates Jonny my boyfriend, his beard gos black and puffs right out as soon as he lays eyes on him, not sure if he reminds him of previous owner that's all I can think of. You are doing a great job and I feel loads better after speaking to you and getting ur advice xxxx kayleigh xxxx
