I got my first reptile ever on January 7 from a local whose dragons had babies—not an official breeder. She told me he was born August 12 which makes him 6 months old. It wasn’t until researching I realized how very small he is if that is indeed his birthdate. However, he is alert & active, has shed twice and is steadily growing. He started out 40 grams and 8 inches long, now after one month he is 80 grams and 10 inches. He poops daily and they look formed and normal. He has shed twice. I don’t know what kind of care he received prior (and next time I will go through a breeder) but now that he is growing steadily—are we on the right track or do I need to have parasite testing?
Setup: He’s in a 40 gallon breeder with bioactive substrate. (Biodudes’s Sahara) Humidity generally around 20%, basking spot is 110, and then temp gradiant goes from about 95 to 80F. Eating about 20-30 Dubai roaches dusted in multivitamin with calcium. Also eating hornworms sometimes, and Phoenix worms about 5 a day. Offered arugula and other veggies daily but I do not see him eating them. Collards growing in the tank as well. UVB 13 hours a day, using Reptisun 10 tube light and hoping to switch to Arcadia desert when it comes back in stock. Water dish in tank.
