This is what we did on Halloween weekend

Watched a thunderstorm till the power got knocked out......
Then we did ............

NOTHING !!!!

Thanx , Yip I have to admit lightning is an obsession with me. Everyone runs for the house and I run outside to try to get the "ultimate" lightining picture.
Power was out for the night and came back on the next morning just in time for Pogies 6:30 wake up call. And who says there no such thing as luck LOL

Lightning pics arent easy to get as theres no way of knowing exactly when its gonna strike. It more of trial end error.
You need to have your f-stop set to between F5.6 and F8 and the shutter speed 1/250 or higher.
Then with LOTSA luck and LOTSA Boo boos you get some usable ones.

Awesome pics, Monique! Especially the lightning pics. SO wish I could get the twins interested in capturing cool things like that. All they want to do is portraits. I've tried telling them they could learn so much about their camera if they'd just start taking pics of anything and everything....trying different exposure settings to see what happens. Guess they just need to grow up a little more. LOL!

I find nature pics to be where I'd put most of my focus. Birds (especially eagles), wolves, deer, running streams with different F-stops and shutter speeds to get varying effects (like a million droplets vs. a smooth terrace of water). Lightning and rain....like what you've captured. The twins just don't find things like that all that exciting....I think they just don't know what they're missing! LOL!

Sounds like you and I think alike on subject matter. Give the girls time. Interrest points tend to change with time. The only subject Id add to your list is Babies/toddlers in action not posed. There is no pic more beautiful than a baby in the tub with his skin wet, and a toddler on the playground covered in chocolate/sweets/mud whatever.
Oh yes and predators, panthers, lion, cheetah atc... you get my drift
