Hey everyone, just a quick concern with my beardie. I’ve had him for a couple months now and just recently someone asked me why the end of my beardies tail was darker. I never really noticed it or thought about it being tail rot. I just thought it was normal coloring. But of course I started looking around online and got myself worried. Just wanted to double check with some of you and see what you thought.

Looks perfect to me. Most beardie tails seem to get darker toward the end. My girl’s tail gets super dark when she’s running around loose. Nothing to worry about!

Awesome, thanks! Just wanted to get someone else’s opinion. And that’s when my guys tail gets the darkest too. Glad to hear it’s not something out of the ordinary. That’s why I got so worried!

Slight darker or shaded tint can be completely ok, as a normal reaction to excitement or being alert and focused. Or even thru the stages of shedding. But I noticed Jabba's tail tip a little darker than one day, which caused concern. So I gave him a warm bath, and rubbed most of the 'color' away with just my hands. And it helped alot. Since then, his baths are every sunday. (He isnt real fond of being misted.) Also, I dont give him a full bath when he is shedding. I just help him out with rubs and loves, ( he likes to be wrapped in a hand towel like a burrito) to help with the itch and shed. Then a good bath when it's over. Sorry didnt have a quick pic of his tail, but you can see some dark in his beard. 2nd pic.... he had enough of the news, and I got another pic for ya.

Help!! I hope mine isn’t tail rot .. I could’ve sworn his tail had looked like this but I’m worried ! The ones in hand are from last night and the one on his basking spot are as of right now .. I gave him a warm bath last night and he didn’t seem to be in pain

Hi Konnor,
Your beardie looks great, including the tail, many beardies seem to be slightly darker at the end of their tail and often have different colours depending on their shed.
With tail rot you won't ever mistake it for anything else! Their tail begins to shrink in on itself and gets hard. When you gently squeeze your beardies tail you will notice it's hard but with a little give like feeling a strong muscle! In the affected area of tail it's like touching bone!
