Hi all, soon to be first time bearded dragon owner. What suggestions do you all have for reputable breeders who ship? Also, what’s the best age of the reptile to bring home for a first time owner?

If you want a baby, look for a beardie around 6-8 inches. Most reputable breeders won't offer dragons smaller than this and will have the sizes of the dragons listed.

For a good breeder, avoid shady dealer sites such as Underground Reptiles. Check the breeder's reviews to get a good idea of their customer service and care. Some breeders have YouTube channels you can watch to see how they care for their reptiles. Dachiu Dragons is a good breeder. They will accept returns on dragons diagnosed with ADV and other health problems for the first 6 weeks after purchase, and they have lots of experience and a good care sheet on their website. You can also wait until a reptile expo opens and go there to see what local breeders have to offer, just check to make sure the lizards are healthy before buying.
