I know peel and stick vinyl tiles are bad for enclosures. If a plain vinyl tile with no glue on it be used if it is applied with a water based or acrylic adhesive? Vinyl is so much easier to cut than ceramic or porcelain.

You don't want any adhesive on the back - you don't want the releasing of any smells or chemicals in the tank - water would be fine if they make such a thing - but nothing w/ any chemicals- and yes you need a tile cutter for the tile+ some home depot's will cut it for you

I use my dremel to cut tile and it takes awhile. The vinyl I have has nothing on either side. Maybe a silicone caulk will work.

Most of the screws are hidden so I just screwed on the tiles. Looks nice and no VOC.
