Hey, so I just got a juvenile bearded dragon last week, and I realized his 10 gallon tank isn’t big enough. I got my hands on a 40 gallon and was wondering was heat bulb / wattage I need as well as which uvb bar/ length I need, any recommendations would help a lot

Yes please get him out of the 10 gallon tank ---- you need a digital probe thermometer to get accurate surface basking temps https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...um-digital-thermometer-14914.html?cgid=500113 you want 2 of these
check you Pet Smart if you have one for this fixture you want the 12% bulb https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...reptile-prot5-uv-b-kit-65058.html?cgid=500202
or this one 24" fixture/ hood this will come w/ a 5.0 bulb keep it for a back up but you want this bulb for a 40 + gallon tank https://www.petmountain.com/product/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-high-output-terrarium-hood
these fixtures are the best on the market at this time --
basking bulbs should be a clear solid bright white bulb like Flukers -- Exo Terra -- Zoo Med basking bulb-- or Arcadia Halogen -- NO off white or yellowish bulb or Daytime bulbs they have a coating on them that will harm the eyes NO colored bulbs of any kind -- same thing bad on the eyes --
the wattage on the basking bulb will be determined by where the tank is at - temp of the room - is it in the sun-- etc -- that is why you need the probes to get actual accurate surface basking temps --- they should be 95-100 --- place the probe where he will sit for basking 10 min or so get the temp --- start w/ a 100 watt ---
the UVB it critical --- no coils of any kind --- please get what I posted I will help you place it for your tank -- the screen will determine where it goes --- let me know --- please no sand for substrate --- some textured NON adhesive shelf liner cut to the size of the tank - you can get from Walmart or your local home improvement store -- clean w/ vinegar / water 50/50 --
I can help w/ feeding if you want more help --- please ask
also you are probably going to want to upgrade the 40 to a bigger tank for him --- adults should be in a 75-120 gallon tank ---
