Hello again!

Rocco is a couple months, some of you maybe read other posts about him. Every time I try feeding him crickets he will have only one or two but he seems to really like the meal worms... Is this okay? I also have fed him baby food butternut squash and he loves that too.

Mealworms are just super hard to digest :( they have alot of chitlin in their shells.. Have you tried other sources of bugs? dubia roaches (if your able to in your state) smaller superworms, waxworms, butterworms, hornworms? some of these are more for treats but...

I would definitely stay away from mealworms until at least juvie age even then careful until he's a full adult. They have a REALLY hard time digesting the hard shell on the outside unless it's a baby mealworm (light color) that way it's soft enough. He can get impacted if he doesn't poop it out. I decided to experiment with mine with mealworms and luckily he pooped it back out but it was like WHOLE so either way between it obviously not being smart to feed more and omg! His poor little butthole!! Lol. I've definitely decided against them till he's older! Lol.

He's been pooping after he eats them and it seems normal size still, but ill definitely try other worms.. I have been trying everyday with the crickets and he just doesn't pay attention to them

I haven't tried any other worms since I've read they are more like treats and I don't want to feed daily because of that, what ones are good for a daily feeding? I also heard super worms aren't good for baby beardies.. Is this true?

I have to find a pet store that would carry them

you can get small super's (size that fits between your dragon's eyes) butter/wax/horn are treats. But if your dragon is hungry they will eat..

Depending on your state you can get Dubia's in petco I think petsmart too. Izzy likes them soo much that I started my own colony ordering from online in bulk is way cheaper if you go that route. there are also members on this forum that will sell off their extras look in the for sale thread. Some states like FL won't allow them. Again online is WAY cheaper

I heard super worms can kill the beardie if they don't kill them fully when they eat.. I read this is true and also a myth. So I've been hesitant to give them to him

It's a myth. If you watch your beardie eat a super you will see that it chops it up right away there is no chance for it to live and if it does live then it will die in the stomach acid.

You can feed your baby anything that is the space between it's eyes. Small super worms are okay along with hornworms, butter worms, dubia is real good.

Thank you!

I went out and got him super worms which he was excited when he saw me putting them on his dish, is it odd that he doesn't really like crickets?

No, sometimes they get tired of eating the same thing over and over. Just like people they develop their particular tastes.
