How to clean smelly wood

(i didnt know whether to put this in general or enclosures) i have a grape vine basking perch thingy and i was in his tank mixing around the substrate and noticed a smell and i couldn’t figure out what it was. turns out it was the wood, second i took it out the smell went away. any suggestions on how to clean this?

There are a few old methods for desmellifying wood, besides any commercial cleaners that are available. 1 part olive oil to 27 parts white vinegar is an old method, spray on and clean off with water. The best method imo (works well on smelly drawers in old furniture anyway) ,put it into a bag of kitty litter and leave for a week or 2.
