Hey guys! I need some help …I got my beardie a few months ago and all seemed fine with tank, eatting etc ….BUT all of a sudden he started making noise ….it kinda sounds like a song from his throat ….like calling for its mother like that raptor from Jurassic park or something lol best way to describe it - not sure if I should be worried ? Sometimes he makes clicking too they are very different noises and his poop is a little watery ….but tank is at perfect temp, diet and eatting has been good predominantly millworms or super worms ….I was told not to leave the water bowl in the enclosure so I make sure to give him drops of water or put the bowl in a few times a week ….any suggestions

Sounds like a possible RI--- they should not be making noise like that --are you using a coil UVB? If so they are NO good and will cause all kinds of health problems --- surface basking temps should be taken w / a digital probe thermometer NO stick ons they are inaccurate and good for ambient temps only-- How old is the dragon? If hes 5 months or under temps should be 105-110 6 months or older 95-100--- what is the humidity in the tank? NO stick ons or analog you want a digital probe hygrometer they are the most accurate placed on the back center wall of the tank --- please post a video of him - you can record on youtube and place the link here -- we have a vet tech on this board so we can enlist her help and I can have some others look at the video as well --- but we need to go over the temps and UVB in the tank - he wont get any better if this is incorrect --- I would invest in ceramic heat emitter so you can keep your temps up at night like around 80 or so if he is ill -- it will help w/ his immune system -

Hmmm so I’m not sure if the uvb light is coil …I can find out ….he’s over 6 months now ….I don’t have a digital hygrometer but the stick on ones I have say 110 F and humidity is is less then 30% - I can take a video later when I’m home

It is best to get him into a reptile vet but I do believe Tracie can prescribe them but you need to post the video of the dragon and she will need weight in grams please -- but we need to get the husbandry on par if he is to get well -- please post a pic of the UVB bulb and your stick ons are incorrect -- please get the 2 digital probe thermometers and a digital probe hygrometer -- posting links so you can see what you need --- but we need that UVB on par
I can post links for the UVB just let me know
Tracie may want you to take him into a vet after we see the video -- here is a website to find a reptile vet in your area if your in a small town etc please type in a bigger cities zip code closest to you

here are the 3 UVB's please get one NOW -- they are crucial to the health of the dragon and if he has this type of UVB since he was a baby hes developing MBD --
for a 40 + gallon tank you want a 24" fixture
Zoo Med comes w/a 5.0 bulb this is good for tank like 30 gallon and under you want the Reptisun 10.0 T 5 22"
this bulb 22" https://www.petmountain.com/product/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-100-uvb-high-output-bulbs?variant=40630
or this one - can be found at Pet Smart if you have one - you want the 24 watt w/ the 12% bulb
or this it will need to have the bulb changed out to the one posted above the Reptisun 10.0 T 5
you want the 2 ft or 24" fixture https://hydrobuilder.com/sunblaster...mp.html?opts=eyJhdHRyaWJ1dGU5MDEiOiI2NjEwIn0=
Please let me know when you get the UVB placement and distance will be determined by the screen on your tank I will help you get it placed --

One of the people I reached out to responded I will flag Tracie again on this
If he sounds like that a lot then he may have an R.I
It also could be that he aspirated some water and will get over it but if it continues it's probably good to have an experienced reptile vet check him out. Other than thsat he looks good though.

Alright so I got the UVB that was suggested ….I got digit hydrometer and 2 digit thermometers ….I changed his substrate to tile ….was also recommended by a reptile specialist …he seems to be doing fine - he seems way happier - I don’t hear the noises anymore and his poop is less runny

Where is the UVB? top of screen in the tank? If there is a screen is it fine mesh like a screen door? The screen will determine where the UVB needs to go -- Take the hygrometer place the probe on the back center wall --

Yes it’s on top of the screen - the screen is like a screen door - and the hygrometer is in the middle of the tank

Your uvb needs to go inside the tank - the screen is blocking 30% of the rays- distance 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor
