Well actually I don't live in Chicago anymore, but who outside of Illinois really know any other city or town?

I have a 3-4 month old bearded dragon that my kids have named Lloyd.

Got him from Pet Smart, so I have no idea anything else about him.

Welcome! As a person IN Chicago, it drives me nuts when people say live in Chicago and they are in the burbs LOL! You're right though, not many people know anything but Chicago, so I won't be mad at you :)

He's very handsome, how long have yo had him? What's the rest of your set up like?

I was born and raised in Chicago, had to move away.

So we got Lloyd about 2 months ago from PetSmart and he was about the size of gis tail now.

My wife wanted a pet for my sons. So she bought a 40 gal tank combo kit that came with the Lloyd for an extra $10.

But it seems as though I'm the one that has been doing all the research. So I'm learning as I go.

He is a cutie..Glad to have you here on the forum as you will find tons of good info here.. I do have a few suggestions for your set up, the double dome for your UVB would be one of the first changes I would do soon, unless in there is a MVB (mercury vapor bulb) The coil UVB bulbs are not good and don't produce enough UVB needed and have been known in the past to cause harm to their eyes.. Most of us use Reptisun T5 HO 10.0 set ups (you'll find all the info you need in the links below several of our comments..You can't see the links if your using Taptalk so here is the link: http://www.beardeddragonforum.com/threads/general-info-set-up-1st-timers.13863/
Secondly: that looks like a heat rock (to the left of the tank) Don't use these as they can cause burns as beardies can not feel heat from below on their bellies..
Not sure how you are measuring the temp and humidity other than the stick on gauges that I see there, those only measure the glass temp info and since they don't "live" on the glass it isn't very reliable.. So get yourself a handheld IR temp gun to measure and at walmart there are stand alone gauges by Acurite that most of us use that you can put on the floor to measure humidity and temps...
Hope this helps! and take a look in the general care section for First timer info that will help alot

Thank you. I don't use the heated rock anymore after I read they burn the bellies, gauge I have IR temp gun, and I use a hygrometer for humidity. As far as the bulb, that is my next upgrade. Not sure what it is... It was from the kit. The silver dome is a ceramic bulb for night.

That's how it always is, someone else always wants it but we end up doing all the research and care!

If the light came from the kit, it's probably a coil bulb so think about changing it ASAP. Check online sites like Dr. Foster and Smith, Pet mountain, or Light Your Reptiles. There is also a big reptile store in Orland Park that is supposed to be pretty awesome. I've never had a chance to get there. There's also expos where you might be able to get deals. The one in Tinley Park is this weekend. The Scott Smith All Animal Expo might have supplies. There's also one up in Sturtevant WI but not sure if that is a one time a year deal or more frequent.

Oh and you only need a light at night if the temps drop below 65 degrees. This time of year, unless you have the windows open, it's not going to get that cold.
