If a dragon is being provided anything less than a T5 tube UVB hood lamp, then that dragon would need a calcium plus D3 with phosphorus, and that would need to be given at least 2-3 times a week. A multivitamin supplement is good to give them once a week no matter the lighting. For a dragon that is being provided with a T5 tube UVB hood lamp, that dragon would need to be given a calcium without D3 and phosphorus 2-3 times a week and a multivitamin supplement once a week, as they are being provided with sufficient UVB. When providing any UVB less than a T5 tube UVB, the dragon isn’t getting enough exposure for their overall bone growth and wellbeing, so the calcium with D3 and phosphorus makes up for what the lower grade UVB isn’t providing. Now am I saying to go ahead and use whatever UVB you can, and just give the calcium with D3 and phosphorus to make up for what the low grade UVB doesn’t provide, no. Absolutely not. Dragons will always need the strongest UVB available which is the T5 tube UVB. Also giving them the calcium supplement 2-3 times a week is better, because dragons also get calcium from not only their feeders, but from their veggies and dark leafy greens as well. So it balances out well.
