Well, it was that time to feed Mr Maya some breeder dubias. I thought they didn't have any eggs, and they aborted them after he began to eat them. I felt so bad but the needs of his care was necessary. I have plenty of roaches with babies.

Does he ever have a problem eating them? I have an average size full grown beardie, I feed him large dubia but I'm always afraid to feed him the fully mature adults - they are so big!!!

I have been feeding my juv male my extra adult males, I cut off the wings first as they hold no nutritional value. I only feed him 1 a day to make sure he can handle them.. He does chew them really well, so I tried a smaller adult female and he did work at it a bit more but he did ok... Now I don't think I will feed him a bigger one until he is bigger himself.. My 3yo female has eaten an adult here and there and has done ok. I've been exploring this more these days as I have SOOO many adult females lol

No. He likes the crunch.

They actually are pretty good about chewing them but watch them to make sure that they are successful in eating them with no issues.

If they eat too much in one sitting, they'll throw it up. Maya threw up once and I thought it might have been too much at one time.

But what is the protocol if they have issues?? I'm so paranoid - how do you give a reptile the Heimlich??
Well I suppose if mine started gagging or not looking like he's swallowing it I would try pulling his beard down to open his mouth and see if I could snag it out..

Hijack - update on my dubia colony...after 50 days in, looks like i have about 100 new babies crawling around...i fed off almost all the medium sized ones to hold her over one day bc we were out of crickets. I'm going to leave them alone for a couple months at least

Dexter is shedding and she is ravenous so I got her to eat a dubia yesterday. She doesn't really like them so she chewed real good for quite awhile and when I tried to get her to eat another one she turned around put her head down and tried to burry it under one of her decorations LOL! If dragons could cry, she would have!
