I was wondering where you got your beardie? Did you get him from the local pet store or from a breeder?

Hi, BeardieLover. This really is a matter of personal choice. It can be quite a controversial topic too.

There are many well known breeders who provide very healthy bearded dragons. Some are leery to use this method because the beardie is shipped to your house. This transport may add to the relocation stress.

Pet stores can be fine too. It is said that they can over breed at the pet stores, so there may be moe problems with your beardie.

A very popular place to purchase your next beardie is the local reptile show. you can meet the breeders and select your next one there.

I admit Bernie came from a pet store. He was a total impulse buy. Although we were overwhelmed with all the care needs at first, we survived the first year. Bernie is 4 years old and very healthy.

We got ours from a pet store too, but there is a big difference amongst pet stores too. The local shops, if you are fortunate to have one, are sometimes better than the big chains. Call around though, you will find some fo the owner like snakes more, or fish. When you find one that is crazy about lizards, he will be one you can depend on down the road when you have questions or need supplies.

When you get a good local owner, they are often willing to special order stuff, etc. Take care all!
