Do the basking bulbs heat decrease over time? I cant seem to get my basking area temps up high enough in the past few days - no matter what I do...it goes to about 98-99 degrees but that is it. I have seen Pete gaping a little bit more lately too and I am wondering if this is the reason. I know they do this when temps are too high, but what about if they are not high enough? Will he try to regulate then as well??

thanks!

I've never had that issue. But mine always went up and I had to replace them. Of course, back then, I did not know you could use a standard household bulb for basking.

What bulb are you using?

I had the same problem, now the light accidently broke and I replaced it with a 60W normal spotlight. NO gaping since and more basking ???
