Hello, I need to replace my basking bulb. I currently have a spare 75w bulb on hand, see below. Will it do until I can get a new bulb shipped to me? I read where it says to use a 150w bulb. The local pet stores only have the zoo med powersun 160 w. which can be found HERE. It‘s advertised as providing essential UVA, UVB, light and heat all in one lamp. any opinions? Thanks much.

If you are going to choose a mercury vapor bulb, you will also need a solarmeter to make sure the UVB levels are not too high. The cheapest solarmeters available are $250-300, plus shipping. MVBs aren't recommended for most people because of all the upkeep required for them. It's best to go with a plain basking bulb paired with a ReptiSun 10.0 tube or an Arcadia 12%.

Whether or not the 75watt is okay depends on if it can heat the tank correctly. It should be fine for a short period of time until you can obtain a stronger bulb.

I agree w/ Hooman a regular bright white basking bulb that keeps temps 105-110 for a baby and 95-110 for a adult / juvie--- taken w/ a digital probe thermometer NO stick ons

Thanks much. As it turns out I need to replace the porcelain fixture. Not the bulb. I tried two different bulbs and they both shorted out. I’m thinking about going with this ZooMed. will it do? Are the porcelain fixtures pretty much the same?thanks
