Hi all,
So I’ve had Reggie for around 7 months now and he’s almost 3!
When we got him he had a large tumour in his mouth that was affecting his breathing and eating. He had this surgically removed in July and the biopsy result showed it was cancer but slow growing and localised to the area. Since then it has grown but minimal, it appears that it will grow to the same size over the next two years.
Since then he’s been back and forth to the vets because I noticed at night he was opening his mouth a lot and sounded like he was trying to force air out of his nostrils, our exotic vet (who I trust) has suggested that the tumour could be in his nostrils which is affecting his breathing and has examined him for a RI but she’s said he doesn’t have one.
She’s referred me to a specialised vets for a CT scan which his insurance won’t cover and we can’t afford the £800+ but it seems off
Other than being off his food (he’s currently being treated with pinworm) he’s fine during the day, he’s somewhat active although I have to hand feed him because he’s lazy and he’s light in colour (no black bearding - although has been gently head bobbing over the last few weeks).
At night he opens his mouth like he’s about to yawn and then forces air out of his nose (sounds like he’s blocked up).
If this was a tumour then surly this would be the same during the day? Equally if it’s a RI he would also be the same?
This only happens at night time! His lights go off around 8pm and he doesn’t have a CHE either, night time temps stay at around 16-17 degrees c!
Has anyone experienced this before? I have videos of this but they are saying they are too big?
Thank you and sorry for the long winded post!
