Hello
I am after some help please. Our buddy is acting weird, keeps hiding and not basking, I was advised by a reptile expect to remove the hide so he can’t go in it and he’s now taken to hiding down the cool end, where there’s no uvb, he’s cold to the touch and has a lot of stress lines. I have turned the temp up today to 42 and put him back under the basking spot which he did seem to stay in. He’s eating his bugs fine, gone off the salad a bit and isn’t pooping as much. I’ll include a pic of his set up, anything you can see might be wrong? Also where he was hiding I have included pic, I have now removed this. UVB is Arcadia T5, he’s about 8 months old, Viv is 4ft x 2ft
Thank you

Your tank looks nice- but you need to get 2 digital probe thermometers- place the one probe on the spot where he basks get the temp - the basking bulb is yellow please get a solid clear bright white bulb examples are flukers basking exo terra intense or Arcadia halogen- the uvb should be 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor - please make adjustments and then watch his behavior

As long as he can sit directly under the uvb 12-15 inches he's good and the bulb is not over 11 months old- the basking bulb is giving off a yellow color I can see it - swap it out for one of the ones I posted and see what he does

I think he's brumating. When that happens they hide and lay still away from the light source. My beardy did the same for 3 months.

is he not too young and wrong time of year for this though
Yes and no --- what is his weight? He should be over 300 grams to brumate - they can brumate at this time of year but you need your surface basking temps and UVB spot on - did you change out the basking bulb?

Hello
So I have changed the bulb to the intense as advised but he is still trying to hide, he’s currently under the bark branch pic attached View attachment 35857
Ok so w/ him eating and pooping it sounds like hes going thru a slow period- mine are doing the same - I ve got one sitting in his hide looking out and awake just being lazy--- let him do his thing and I would put his hide back in - this summer seems to be off for some of them - as long as hes still eating etc and not losing weight let him do his thing- dragons know when they need to bask etc --- as long as your temps and lighting are spot on hes good unless there would be a underlying issue we cant see but w/ him eating and pooping etc make sure hes hydrated as well

I actually have him out at the moment, he’s just sitting on me chilling. Are you thinking maybe he’s bored?
