ok so I got this bearded dragon from a reptile expo today and before I bought him I saw there was some dark color on the end of his tail. I asked the guy about it and he said he wasn't to sure and that it could be tail rot or him starting to shed. I don't see how he didn't know but I bought him anyway because he was very cute and lovable. He did eat after a few hours of being home and run all about his new cage. with this being my first bearded dragon I'm not sure on what it could be any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do have a 100w basking light and a 75w one on as well right now due to it being cold when we got home. I also have a 10.0 uvb tube light.

The basking spot is 108° with a heat gun and the tube lights is a T8. He has a spot where he can lay right under the uvb light. This is the 2nd day of having him home and he has only ate 4 worms I assume that is due to the relocation stress. I have offered turnup greens but he hasn't ate any. He has pooped once. All the rocks/stairs are fake I made them with foam and painted them with brown acrylic paint that I put a little of clean sand in just to give it some texture. The tube light doesn't have any cover on it to block any uvb. None of the light are coil and the one bright one has Been turned off it was only on to help heat the cage up when we got home.

This is all the lights and the platform for him to sit under the uvb light.

That is not tail rot it sometimes the ends look darker -- the 10.0 tube you have is it a T 8 or a T 5 bulb--- reason I am asking is it needs to be a certain distance in the tank and the cover needs to be off the bulb---- a T 5 is 10-11 inches from basking and a T 8 6-8--- I would get it so he can sit directly under it or it really isnt gonna do any good -- the one bright bulb in the tank is that a coil bulb? If it is please take it out -- coils are no good and hurt their eyes ---what are his basking temps? And how are you taking them? Infrared heat gun ? digital probe? stick ons? Actual basking temps should be taken w/ a heat gun and temps for a baby should be 105-110 - babies like it warmer-- his eating may slow down here as he will more than likely go thru relocation stress --- he should be eating as many bugs crickets or dubia roaches in a 10-15 minute time frame- all bugs pulled out of tank do not leave in their over nite - especially crickets they bite and can cause infection - bugs should be dusted w/ calcium D3 5 x / week and vitamins 2 x per week --- offer greens every day - here is website for nutrition
http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html----- please keep him hydrated --- either by giving him a bath every other day which will make him nervous - drop water on his nose or you can mist him -- you can always wash his greens before serving as well - I dont know if he will eat them as their main diet is bugs -- he will eat those till hes a year old -the wood steps in the tank etc is that stuff all real smooth -- if it is hes gonna have a hard time getting any type of traction to get around --- I would be worried he would slip and fall off of that stuff --- paper towels are a good substrate for now -- you can always get some textured non adhesive shelf liner from Home Depot or Lowes etc --- its cheap easy to clean w/ vinegar/water 50/50 in a spray bottle --- if you have any questions please ask

OK if you need extra heat you can get a Ceramic Heat Emitter - or CHE they produce heat and no light -- they come in 75-100 watt bulbs --- I have one for my tank that I use in the winter only and its on 24/7--- tank looks good --- was just concerned about the smooth looking surface --- 108 is good temp for baby

The top half of the cage is 95. 108 under basking spot and the lower half is 85 I just needed both heat bulbs when we first got home my house is only 68 so the cage was that temp i used both to get the cage up to temp fast to put him in it. I have a heating pad as well that im not using yet im waiting on the thermostat to come in and it will be used at night to keep his sleep area in the right temp. right now i use a heat emitter at night

I’ll post more pics. Two 75w and the UVB reptisun. 95 degrees on one end and on the other side like 85 or cooler. I feed her Calci worms, Dubia’s one inch long, wax worms sometimes, I feed her medium superworms, with mustard greens and kale, oh and berries, and dust calcium on bugs. What’s wrong.

But I don’t recommend the super worms they can bite through your bearded dragons belly. So I’ll stop feeding those unless you chop the head off. So instead I feed her mealworms and people say they’re bad but they aren’t. I also want to try horn worms
