    Gravid or just fat?

As Patsy says the only way to know for sure is with x-ray, but if I were to have mine x-rayed every time she had eggs (Every month) I would be broke and she would be radiation poisoned. So I have found a few indicators that while not a sure way to tell can help a bit. -The belly seems to hang...

    Clicking noise when sleeping?

It might be a stuck nose shed, take a look at his nostrils and see if there is a flap covering it. Lizz had one that turned inside out a few months ago and it mimicked an URI and scared the crap out of me.

    Tantrums?

I can tell when my girl have asked to come out and I have not been home to see, all her greens will be spread across the cage, the pillow she have on top of her basking spot will be either in her cave, or on the other side of the cage. She even sometimes manages to dislodge the smaller rocks in...

Lizard super busy, should I be concerned?

Mine does this like clockwork, every January she gets frisky and needs to go out looking for a mate. Normally calms down after a few days/weeks, but then I have to deal with eggs once a month the rest of the year.

    Something in his nose?

The nose structure sheds like a narrow tube, and inverted itself in the bath one time when Lizz were shedding. It scared the crap out of me, because she started showing the symptoms of a respitory infection and clear distress almost instantly. So I am being super watchfull now when she sheds her...

how to help her lose weight?

I agree with Patsy and Hdrydr, it sounds a bit like she may have eggs, I normally tell by the tip of the tail getting darker, and feeling the belly during bathtime, you should be able to feel grape sized lumps evenly spaced on both sides of her belly if she has eggs.

    Post brumation black beard

Bearded dragon mating season is normally right after brumation so she is probably ready to mate and looking for a male. My female gets like this every time she wakes up too, I call it being "Spring horny"

    Differences between male and female?

I only have the one female, but she is the calmest little girl ever. She also are more extreme than most on the egg past so that's where I thought I could be useful. She lays one clutch of 15-30 egg once a month, and takes care of most of it on her own as long as I put her in her sand box when...

    Strange markings on back

"This site is for advice simply. I think the majority of us know when to go vets" I am sorry if my meaning got misunderstood, I just meant that if you felt your local vet were questionable and wanted to get a second opinion, looking further away might be an option.

    Strange markings on back

I am not sure about the darker stripes on his side, but the dark line on his back and knee certainly looks like wounds or at least damaged scales. Maybe see if there is any vets with reptile experience within reasonable driving distance, the closest reptile vet for me is 2 hours away, but I...

New to Dragons. Baby vs Adult

I got my girl as an adult from someone who never even wanted a bearded dragon, he was originally just watching her for a friend and that ended up being permanent. He had no clue what he was doing, just followed what the pet store told him, which was sand, regular aquarium lights and a diet of...

    Color changing sun dragon

I always use a leash just to be sure, even if my Lizz is the calmest little mommas girl that will rather cling to me than run off if spooked. They are animals and you just can't know how they will react at any time.

    Any heating ideas? (hopefully inexpensive)

I simply have the roach colony on top of the cage (I have a massive cage) and they are thriving, that's Dubia roaches though. If it gets to cold for them you can get a heat mat to put under the container.

    Any heating ideas? (hopefully inexpensive)

I use an cheramic heat lamp as an inexpensive way to heat my tank, if you want to go even cheaper I suppose a normal non-LED spotlight will raise the temperature slightly, but it will not work as primary heat source.

    Strange Behavior

Lizz has a lot of branches and rocks in her enclosure, so she will find any rough surface and just scratch by pressing herself against it and walking. It completely threw me off the first time I saw it.
