So ive been working on a basking light and testing on my friends tank. This is the second prototype.
She was using a 100w zoomed basking light (not sure which one exactly). But it is definitely yellow in my opinion.
The new basking light is using about 50w and has a daylight color...
That information was definitely more than i was expecting, and very informative. Thanks! Really appreciate the information. I have some parts coming in this weekend so let me see how many issues I can tackle.
I've definitely noticed some of the issues you mentioned like yellowish/dim light...
What about using an expandable grommet to kind of cover the hole?

Hey, so as some of you may remember, I joined the forum to learn from you. Skimming through this forum i've learn how passionate you all are and i'm learning a lot thus far.
I've been busy prototyping a custom basking light that addresses some of my friend's issues and I would like to hear from...
if you have a home depot / lowes around, they have (or should have) an open fixture that Eavlynn suggested.
Whats going to be your choice for basking light? is the tank enclosed or does it have an open top?
Just an idea, but would adding a dimmer, assuming you're using a halogen or incandescent, help you "fine tune" the temp until Spyra is a happy lady? I can see that its just easy enough to buy a 75W. Glad to see you have found the fix though.
Ha. Love that story! It reminds me when my sister...
just to add to this: from my custom aquarium mods back in the day, make sure to pick up silicon that isnt quick dry, mold resistant, fancy extras ect. At least in aquariums, it is more of a problem of chemicals leaching into the water.
from my limited time stalking the forum, i would guess your non-basking area is a bit too warm and Spyra (girl spyro?) isn't in need to bask that long under the light if she is getting the heat throughout the tank.
Just my thoughts, I would be interested in hearing the more experienced people...
I have heard that bearded dragons change color. My friend has correlated that her beardie changes to a darker color while being outside under direct sunlight. I find it a very interesting phenomenon.
Do you enjoy your beardie one way or the other (color)? Have you guys noticed what causes...
Laswabbie has the idea.. I typically use heat to remove any sort of adhesive. Doesnt work for all adhesives (i work with stuff that can handle 700F!). use a hair blower or heat gun to heat the tiles/glue and try pulling them off. Best of luck
i was curious during the day time, but thats good to know 65F at night is acceptable.
During the day, would it be better to have 2 lights or CHE/light combo (or any preference)?
